Enjoy an evening of tea and herbal discussion with the Ohio Herb Center Tea Society. Learn proper infusion methods for a variety of teas, we will do virtual tastings of the featured tea, and discuss herbal topics. The Tea Society will meet on the second Thursday of the month. A zoom link will be provided for each class. Purchase includes 10 classes, an herb or tea blend featured each month, and a 30 minute tasting. Time for questions and conversation as well. This is a great way to expand your tea routine or learn about a variety of herbs.

The Ohio Herb Center mentorship program was developed to assist herbalists with concentration on 3 areas of focus, Apothecary/Product making, Herb Garden creation and management, and Herbal Class Instructor. Each area of focus will end with a project completed by the mentees. Each participant will receive a certificate with a detailed list of what they achieved during the program along with total contact hours.

Come learn the subtle nuances of making tea. This class dives into the technique of traditional tea, herbal tea or tisanes, and decoctions. Learn the basics of blending for taste and wellness. We will also explore using an energetics approach to focus on what specific herbs can do for you. Explore how the ritual of tea can help create moments of self-care in your busy life. Tastings will be provided of a variety of herbal teas plus take home a sample of the herbs to use at home in your tea exploration. A handout with recipes and information presented in class will be provided.

There is nothing better than chicken soup when you’re sick, or is there? Learn how to care for your family with at home remedies. We will explore how to make you comfortable and cozy while recouping from an illness. Each attendee will receive a handout with recipes, and hands on instruction to make each remedy. Learn by doing as we make a remedy or two to take home plus samples of prepared remedies you will want to have on hand. Let’s explore using our herbs in a variety of ways to keep your family healthy and happy. Class is 1.5 hours long. This class is taught by Ohio Herb Center staff.

Don’t let old man winter do a number on your skin. Let’s explore how to make your own skincare products to combat the harsh winter weather. Learn to make everything you need to keep your skin glowing and vibrant. We will walk through the process of making each recipe, and in the end you will take home your very own 3 piece skincare regimen. Included in the cost of registration is a detailed custom handout with recipes included and all the ingredients to make 3 different recipes in class. This is a 2 hour class.

Join other Central Ohio Gardener’s for the Ohio Herb Center Seed Swap. This is a great way to share in your bounty and grow new plants in your gardens. Any seeds brought to swap need to be bagged and labeled. Come prepare for the upcoming growing season and share with gardener’s new and experienced. This event is brought to you through the Ohio Herb Center’s community outreach program and is free of charge to attend.

A hands on exploration of creating with herbs using basic methods of preparation. In the first part of this series each participant will use their hands and feel their way through each technique, allowing them to walk away confident in their skills.

Each class goes step by step through the process learning the technique in a hands-on manner, limited to 8 students, handouts with general information will be provided, and surprise samples of what is made with occasional take homes. The class dates for this are as follows: March 21st, April 18th, and May 23rd. This is a 2 hour workshop.

Are you new to gardening with herbs and looking for guidance? In this class we will explore different methods of incorporating herbs into your gardens or landscaping. We will talk about some basic herbs to start with that includes botanical information, and how to use each herb. Once we explore these herbs, we will discuss using different herbs as part of your existing landscaping. You can utilize your herbs in a way that brings contrast and design elements as well as replacing common landscaping plants. Ohio Herb Center staff will teach you how to incorporate herbs into your landscaping plans and which herbs are best suited. This class is a great way to kickstart your gardening for the season and think about herbs in a nontraditional way.
