In this class you will receive a handout that includes resources, herbal organization information, a breakdown of certification criteria, and so much more. The path is filled with many choices so let’s discuss the options so you can make an informed decision on the right one.

Join the Ohio Herb Center to celebrate our pollinating friends! This event caps off Pollinator Week with activities, garden walks, a pollinator scavenger hunt, and Pollinators in Our Backyard workshop (registration required). The Ohio Herb Center will be a hive of activity on this day where we celebrate the insects who help our gardens flourish. This is a free event made possible through our community outreach funds.

Let’s celebrate Pollinator Week! In this class parents and kids (8 & older) will learn about our native bees and butterflies, including what to do in your own backyard to help them. The class will cover more than just bees and butterflies. Learn how you can contribute to the habitat of our pollinators and how to report what you are seeing in your yard. The class is taught by the Herb Center’s own bee whisperer, Amanda Ferguson. She is a Pollinator Advocate for the State of Ohio.

Take the guesswork out of making your own herbal beauty care products. Participants will take an overall look at products you can make for your skin. Each class is one hour and will teach you the nuances of creating herbal skin care and guide you through selecting ingredients that are all natural. Discover how crafting your own DIY products will save time and money—and give you the skills to customize products to match your skin type. Let’s demystify using herbs in a variety ways in the kitchen. Herbal Culinary Savory, Sweet, and Beverages will be covered in this 2 hour workshop. Sample a recipe from each, take home a handout that includes recipes, and learn techniques to make them successfully for your next gathering. Join our community full of fellow herb curious individuals and enjoy the lively conversations that happen in our classes.

Learn about making green cleaning products from simple ingredients found around the house. The trick to running a natural home is to learn a few simple techniques and having ingredients on hand that get your home squeaky clean without harsh chemicals. This virtual class will teach you easy ways to make safe, affordable products for cleaning. Sign up for one class or all 3 for a discounted price.

Got Herbs? Don’t know what to do with them. This is the perfect workshop for you. We will walk through step by step the process of harvesting, drying, and preserving your herbs for you to use in your kitchen. Walk through each step of the process with staff from the Ohio Herb Center, leading this virtual workshop, to answer questions and provide their experience. Each person will receive a handout that includes information covered in class.  

Join Jamie Hetzel of Dancing Woods Apothecary for the second class in this herbal body care series, where herb-infused oils are transformed into skin-nourishing topical remedies and self-care rituals.

In this class, participants will learn how to take a finished herb-infused oil and create salves, balms, lotions and creams. Jamie will cover formulation basics, waxes, emulsifiers, and best practices for crafting stable, skin-loving products. Each participant will leave with one salve or balm and one lotion or cream demoed during class.

Important note: This class does not cover how to make herb-infused oils. Participants who do not take Class One are advised to arrive with prior knowledge of herb-infused oil preparation.

Enjoy an evening of tea and herbal discussion with the Ohio Herb Center Tea Society. 

Learn proper infusion methods for a variety of teas, we will do virtual tastings of the featured tea, and discuss herbal topics.

The Tea Society will meet on the second Thursday of the month. A link will be provided for each virtual class.

Purchase includes class, an herb or tea blend featured each month, and a 30 minute discussion. Time for questions and conversation as well. This is a great way to expand your tea routine or learn about a variety of herbs. 

This class is a hands on exploration of creating with herbs using advanced methods of preparation. This is the second part of the technique series. Each participant will use their hands and feel their way through each technique, allowing them to walk away confident in their skills. A knowledge of basic techniques will help students to be successful in this class.

Each class goes step by step through the process of learning the technique in a hands-on manner, limited to 8 students, handouts with information covered in class will be provided, and supplies to craft herbal creations using techniques we learn in class will be provided. Students will use the Herbal Technique Discussion form to track information about what they make and share with the class. The class dates for this are as follows: September 12th, September 26th, and October 10th. This is a 2 hour workshop.

Join Ohio Herb Center staff to learn the traditional herbal remedies that have been handed down from generation to generation. We will explore 3 different remedies, how they are made, and the history behind them. Taste some samples in class as the instructor walks you through the steps involved to create each remedy. Leave with the confidence to make your own at home to share with friends and family. Each participant will receive a detailed handout with recipes, a sample of one remedy made in class, and an herb blend to try your new skills at home.

Especially during this time of year when the veil is thin. In this 2 hour class you will learn incense practices, utilizing aroma, and different techniques to suit your needs. Take home an incense blend and charcoal disk to continue your practice, plus a handout and soothing tea tasting.
